In 1996, Iglesias got home several accolades, like the Billboard’s ‘Artist of the Year’ & ‘Album of the Year’, 1996 Grammy Award for Best Latin Performer and a couple of American Music Awards. Within 7 days, the record went gold in Portugal and sold over 6 million copies across the world. In the same year, he debuted in his first self-titled album, which was a hit that he barely imagined. It was in 1995 that his hard work paid off and he signed his first record. It was with the money he borrowed from her nanny that helped Iglesias execute all of this. He recorded a few songs, one Spanish and some English tunes in a cassette and sent to various producers.
